Silverjuke is a highly specialized music and video player designed to replicate the behavior and aesthetic of a traditional, physical music jukebox. Developed by Björn Petersen Software Design, it is engineered for scenarios like home parties, DIY arcade cabinets, and public hospitality venues. Core Features
Jukebox Workflow: Unlike standard players that use complex auto-generated queues, Silverjuke relies entirely on user selection. You manually browse the library and pick the tracks to be played next; once the selection queue runs out, playback stops unless automatic filler rules are set.
Kiosk Mode & Touchscreen Support: It features a robust lock-down kiosk mode. This expands the interface to full screen, hides mouse pointers, and deactivates standard OS shortcut keys to prevent users from tampering with other background software. It includes virtual keyboard overlays optimized for touch monitors.
Album-Oriented Organization: The engine automatically aggregates fragmented tracks across various root directories and groups them into clean visual albums based on metadata algorithms.
Custom Interface Skins: The entire user interface is completely skinnable. It can be modified via the Silverjuke SDK to resemble vintage vinyl jukeboxes, retro CD changers, or minimalist touchscreen terminals.
Wide Format & Tech Support: It processes internal audio at 32-bit for seamless crossfading, volume normalization, and gapless playback. It supports formats like MP3, FLAC, OGG, and WAV, handles karaoke files, and functions alongside UPnP/DLNA streaming devices. Licensing and Licensing Formats Silverjuke exists under a dual-availability model: Features – Silverjuke
